Comments:
This lake stores untreated raw water and also serves as a recreation lake. Water does not fluctuate as much as other lakes in this complex. Referred to by various names but official is Lake Pagosa.

Comments:

Per authors, active nest count = # nests detected + 0.5*(juveniles detected). This reservoir considered the most productive for Western grebe nesting in CO due to 59 active nests in 5 years. The 5 year span between 1998 and 2004 was not named. Leukering report for 2003 says this site has been inactive for the last two years (assuming 2002 and 2003), possibly due to an improvement project that limited the emergent vegetation zone.

One of 93 lakes, ponds, and reservoirs surveyed in CO for 3 species of grebes. One of the larger nesting colonies found in this study.
