From Table 3, a summary of Northern California lakes from this report (Tule Lake NWR, Lake Earl, Eagle Lake, Mountain Meadows Reservoir, Lake Almanor, Thermalito Afterbay, East Park Reservoir, Clear Lake, and Mendota Wildlife Area). Northern California lakes support important nesting colonies and a majority of the grebe population in CA (over 70% in 2008). Specifically, Tule Lake, Clear Lake, Eagle Lake, and Lake Almanor support a majority of the 2003 breeding population of grebes (Ivey 2004). These four lakes had over 100 nests each in 2008.
