Io non ho dato hordine a pietro marquese di tornar qua mentre mio fratello se ne dichiara mal sodisfatto ne lo vol piu al suo servitio è io encor meno ne ho bisogno; circa a quello mi dite poi ch'io sono partita di francia per goder magior liberta mi maraviglio di questo vostro pensiero mentre mi sono volontariamente rinchiusa in un monasterio; se io avessi potuto restar nel lys non saria uscita di francia; ma la poca compiacensa del Re ma fatto pigliar questa resolutione; ne so perche supponete ch'io avessi liberta a nevers mentre nella casa di mio fratello stavo apunto come in un convento; tratanto godo di sentir il miglioramento di carlino et dando a tutti tre la mia beneditione resto vostra

I have not given the order to Pietro Marchese to return here, since my brother says that he is displeased with him; he no longer wants him in his service, and I have even less need of him. And then with regard to what you say—that I left France in order to enjoy greater freedom—I am astounded you should think that, given that I shut myself into a convent of my own accord. If I had been able to stay in the Lys, I would not have left France; but the King's meager courtesy led me to make that decision. Nor do I know why you suppose that I had freedom in Nevers, since in my brother's house I was living precisely as I did in the convent. Meanwhile, I am happy to hear of Carlino's improvement; with my blessings for all three, I remain yours.
